Dig Deeper Yoga Studies 500 Training

Advancing the Teacher

DIG DEEPER YOGA STUDIES 500 is a 300-hour Yoga Alliance® Registered Level II training for teachers who have completed a 200-hour teacher training program and are interested in honing and refining their teaching skills. The Advanced Teacher Training schedule is divided into SEVEN weekend modules, FIVE asana intensives, ONE Meditation Immersion, Monthly online/teleconference calls, plus Electives. All hours and modules must be completed in order to qualify for 500-hour certification. We recommend taking the seven modules sequentially. The asana intensives can be taken throughout the training as offered. Electives hours can begin counting as soon as you're enrolled!

The course includes the exploration of advanced asana practice; the energetics of optimally aligned asanas; applied biomechanics and hands-on adjustments; skillful and advanced teaching techniques for asana, pranayama and meditation; building a workshop sequence; business and marketing; and polishing all of the Art of Teaching tools. Completion of this program qualifies teachers to register for 300/500-hour RYT certification from DIG YOGA and Yoga Alliance.  A DDYS 500 manual will given to you at the start of Module One, along with individual module handouts to be added to your course notebook each month. There will not be monthly homework assignments but a book presentation is due by Module 7 (reading list given at Module one).

The full DDYS 500 course curriculum requires 270 contact hours which is divided into two parts:

  • 175 hours of Level 2 Advanced Teacher Training (DDYS 500 program) with Naime Jezzeny & Sue Elkind

  • 95 hours of Electives*

It also requires 30 non-contact hours which will includes auditing 3 classes, assisting 3 classes, and teaching 21 hours of public or private yoga classes using DDYS Self Evaluation Forms (to be given at the start of Module One).

*Electives are courses taught by both guest and DDYS faculty that cover a full spectrum of yoga practices (i.e asana, breath, chanting, meditation, philosophy). One of our DIG faculty can help you chart out the trajectory of your elective studies and answer any questions you have along the way.

Once enrolled in DDYS 500, you will be required to track your hours on a DDYS 500 Tracking spreadsheet as you freely customize your Electives & Practicums to best serve your interests and fit into your schedule and life. All hours can be accrued over a period of two & half years from the date of your enrollment into DDYS 500.
