Get Grounded in Children's Yoga

July 14 – July 16

This module is based on the principle that you must first ground yourself before you can ground others. This is a groundbreaking invitation to create an authentic presence, complete engaging groundwork, and be your most elevated self with kids of all ages. In this module you will be introduced to the Grounded methodology and gain proficiency in the 84 Grounded Elevator series poses. You will receive a well-rounded introduction into all aspects of teaching yoga to kids and teens (ages 7 and up). Class will culminate with group experience teaching children and/or teen classes.  This training provides 22 contact hours towards becoming a Yoga Alliance certified Children’s Yoga Instructor.

 

Practicum:  Elevate your teaching

September 17 – September 20

Begin with proven curriculum and hone your observation skills. Master the art of effective verbal and manual adjustments.  Deepen your awareness of child development through the lens of both educational psychology, anatomy and yogic models of human development. You'll leave with all you need to make Grounded Kids Yoga Curriculum your own and a large support network to share with.  Also addressed, the business of kids yoga and tips toward getting started. This training provides 22 contact hours towards becoming a Yoga Alliance certified Children's Yoga Instructor.

 

Teaching Special Needs, Trauma Sensitive Yoga, Yoga for Prevention/Recovery and Teens

October 10 – October 12

In this module you will evolve by cultivating the specialized skill set necessary to teach yoga to children who have special needs and the rapidly expanding population needing trauma sensitive yoga. Escalating rates of addiction will be addressed and tools for supporting prevention and recovery taught. The benefits of yoga for adolescents are many and we will share techniques for teaching teens. Class will culminate with observation of yoga in a special needs school setting, practice teaching and group self-reflection. This training provides 24 contact hours towards becoming a Yoga Alliance certified Children’s Yoga Instructor.

 

Explore Teaching Yoga in Schools

December 4 – December 6

Explore the amazing impact that yoga and mindfulness can bring to our K-12 school children. Working within a live school environment, you will learn how to use the United States of You curriculum to guide students towards exploring and understanding their various states. By employing mindfully crafted yoga lesson plans, you will learn how to enable students to gain awareness and freedom- physically, emotionally, mentally, and socially. Best practices in working with administration, parents, teachers and students will be shared.   This training provides 22 contact hours towards becoming a Yoga Alliance certified Children’s Yoga Instructor.

Felicia Ruth, ERYT 500, MA Ed. 

Felicia has a deep educational background, holding a Master’s degree in Education and certifications to teach Yoga, Reiki and Grounded Kids Yoga, most recently completing coaching programs for Yoga and Meditation for Recovery.  Before teaching yoga, Felicia served as a School-wide Enrichment Specialist and Gifted and Talented teacher in the Livingston Public Schools. Her initial 500 hours of training included a focus on Structural Yoga Therapy, Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy, Vinyasa and Tantric teachings.  Felicia later found and was influenced by the teachings of Sri Brahmananda Saraswati and the meditative practice of Yoga Nidra.  Alongside her work with adults, she continues her work in education teaching yoga, mindfulness and self-regulation skills to students, faculty and parents of The Quaker School at Horsham.  Felicia believes that well-integrated body alignment reveals the capacity to go inward and discover one’s unique and inherent gifts.  As a practitioner, she has discovered her own love of music and shares this joy with her students.  Felicia is dedicated to helping people of all ages find greater ease, strength, freedom of movement and peace of mind.
