In the 1940s, Norwegians made and wore red pointed hats with a tassel as a for of visual protest against Nazi occupation of their country. Within two years, the Nazis made these protest hats illegal and punishable by law to wear, make or distribute.
Inspired by this act of resistance, knitters in Minnesota have recently begun making these red hats together to protest the targeting of minorities and immigrants by the federal government.
Join us at Dig on Feb 20th, 24th, & 26th to knit your own hat and show support for all our neighbors.
