Part I: Sunday, October 26th
Part II: Sunday, November 30th
12:00 - 1:30pm
The pilates method teaches us how to build strength and increase flexibility through controlling opposition and resistance—whether we are working with apparatus or within our own bodies on the mat. In this workshop focusing on the Return to Life mat sequence, we will explore how the 34 classical exercises connect a dynamic breath with the powerhouse, or core, to build strength and flexibility of our spine. By practicing these exercises as dictated by Joseph Pilates—including The One Hundred, Overhead Stretch, Saw, Teaser, Side Legs, Swan, and Boomerang, to name a few—participants will deepen their understanding of body awareness and how to harness the power of their inner fire. Pilates is defined as stretch with strength and control—the most important of which is control.
